01 / SUPPORT SCOPE
Three disciplines. One agreed plan.
At a glance: project support gives the client engineering input on construction issues. Before work begins, we agree specialist responsibilities, site visits and the records used to document results.
01
Design supervision
Does construction follow the design?
Review how design decisions are implemented, address contractor queries and assess the need for design revisions.
YOUR DELIVERABLE
Recorded observations and decisions on design documentation queries.
02
Technical supervision
How is work being carried out?
Review workmanship, materials and supporting records within the agreed scope.
YOUR DELIVERABLE
Observations on completed works and follow-up on corrective actions.
03
Engineering support
How should changes be handled?
Assess equipment substitutions, clashes and sequencing queries. Help coordinate the client, designer and contractor.
YOUR DELIVERABLE
An engineering position on open issues and a clear course of action.
Disciplines can be commissioned separately or together. The scope, review frequency and responsibilities are defined in the contract.
Attention to the details that affect the outcome.
02 / IN PRACTICE
From a site query to an agreed solution
01
Review the situation
Collect the design, photographs, contractor query and information about completed works.
02
Define the solution
Check the initial conditions. Arrange a site visit, further information or a design revision where needed.
03
Record and follow up
Document observations and decisions. Follow up on implementation within the agreed support scope.

BEFORE WE START
Support arrangements
How do design and technical supervision differ?
Design supervision concerns implementation of design decisions and queries for the designer. Technical supervision concerns workmanship, materials and supporting records. We define the scope and authority of each discipline for the specific site.
Can you join after construction has started?
Yes. We first review the design, current stage and records of completed works. We then establish which tasks we can support and what information is needed.
Are continuous site visits required?
The format depends on construction stages and review requirements. Site visits, remote document reviews and coordination meetings are agreed in advance. Photographs do not replace an on-site inspection where one is needed.
Can equipment or design decisions be changed on site?
We assess proposed changes against the design and the replacement specifications. Documentation revisions and agreement with project participants may be required; a verbal agreement is not sufficient to document a change.
How is support priced?
The fee depends on the tasks, construction duration, location and site visit schedule. After reviewing the project, we prepare an offer with the scope and working arrangements.
